welcome ICLW

Hello ICLWers.

It's my favorite time of the month, discovering new blogs, making new friends, spending even more time on the internet. ;)

Here's the quick background on me and this blog. We are 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant as of Monday, 9-21. This pregnancy is the result of an FET. We are beyond thrilled, but still scared and hopeful. We did IVF with ICSI and PGD, so if anyone has any questions on any of that, I'm happy to help.

If you want a little more background on me, I made a list of things I love for the last ICLW.

Now for our regularly scheduled programming...

So, I had written this list of all the thoughts in my head of things to do after I first got a positive HPT. I've started on a few of them..

1. Carlos and I went car-shopping this past weekend. Just for fun. Not to buy yet at all. It's so funny how car salesmen really think they can convince you to buy a car. I'm like, do you really think I'm going to test-drive on the day I buy? No, I'm going to send you an email telling you the price I want to pay. If you email me back, I buy the car. Today, we are in the research phase.

2. I also had thought about making an OB doctor appointment. I was worried that I would call when I get released from the RE and find out I can't get an appointment. Is it too early to call to get an appointment?

Well, this one got this best of me, and I called this past week. I was at work, so I was trying to be quiet, even though I was in a closed door cubicle. I told the scheduler my name, date of birth, etc, and then she asked, "what do you want to come in for?" I whispered, "I'm pregnant. (I honestly don't think I had said that out loud yet."

Her immediate response to me: Do you want to keep the baby?

I was shocked. I couldn't hep it. I think I screamed, "Heck yeah! I did IVF!"

It was surreal that that was her first question to me. I guess my whispering made me sound young and scared or something.

Anyway, appointment made at the 10 week mark.

So. more on the rest of my list later in the week.

Today is our first ultrasound. I'll post an update later today.

Congrats on your pregnancy :D I think that is cool that you have a list of things you were going to do when you got pregnant and now you can start doing them. I don't think I have a list of things that I was going to start doing whenever I get pregnant. I will have to think about that.

Um...let me think about that one. Do I want to keep the baby???! Oh my gosh, that's too much. I was similarly surprised when the nurse who's administering our P17 shots asked if my husband was upset about the pregnancy. My instinct was very similar to yours, I wanted to yell out "Are you KIDDING ME?! We've been trying for years and YEARS to have this baby!!!" But I realized that abusive situations might lead to premature babies and that's probably why she was asking--because she had to. A different world than the one we live in! I'm sending continued good vibes for your pregnancy~~
Take care,
B

I got the same question went I went in for a test! Although I hadn't done IVF, we had been trying. I said "OF course I want to keep the baby!" Good working making the appointment. that's a tough one!

Enjoy your day!

GL on your u/s! I was going to recommend you make the appt with your OB asap but I continued reading and saw that you did. It stinks when you're ready for an appt and the coordinator can't fit you in, always better to plan early.

That was a pretty inappropriate first question from the coordinator -- I would think she would know enough to know that you would tell HER if you were calling for something other than a routine OB appt. But, I assume she's just doing what she's been told to do by the doctors.

If you ever have a free moment to post on it, I'd be interested to hear about your experience with PGD. Whether you lost any embies to the procedure, whether insurance covered it and how accurate the doctors' 1 in 4 odds wound up being, if you wouldn't mind sharing.

DH and I are not carriers for CF but we've had several losses/non-IVF success due to chromosomal issues. We're not willing to go through another m/c, especially if we can determine ahead of time if there's an issue, so I'd really be interested to hear about how you got the results, if they were what you expected.

I'll be sending you great vibes for a perfect u/s today!
